Dr. Ila Thakur is an accomplished researcher in the field of mechanical engineering with over eight years of experience. She currently serves as a Research Engineer at the R&D Center of Hitachi India Pvt. Ltd. She earned her Ph.D. in thermal engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where she was involved in an in-depth investigation into double-diffusive convection during solidification (phase change) phenomena, utilizing advanced optical techniques and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Her
diverse expertise covers heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, optical techniques, numerical simulation (CFD), Artificial intelligence, machine learning, renewable energy, Data-driven methodologies, and railway signaling systems.She has published extensively in renowned journals such as International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Physical Review of Fluids, etc. Her research spans wind and solar energy, with notable contributions in performance analysis, fault detection, optimization
in renewable energy systems, degradation in wind turbines, power loss rediction using physics-informed numerical modelling as well as a patent in real-time pitch optimization for wind turbines. She has chaired sessions at international conferences and authored numerous papers in both national and international journals/conferences.
