Mauro Lenzi

Dr. Mauro Lenzi is an ecologist who graduated from the Biological Science of Pisa University (Italy). Currently, he directs the research activities of the Lagoon Ecology and Aquaculture Laboratory (LEALab; Orbetello Pesca Lagunare Company). He cooperated or is co-operating with Grosseto University Pole, Universities of Pisa, Siena, Florence, Parma, Venice and Rome, Central Institute for Environment Research and Protection of Rome (ISPRA, ex ICRAM), WWF-Italy, Regional Agency for Tuscany Environmental Protection (ARPAT), FAO-Rome, National Research Council (CNR, Italy), National Agency for New Technology (ENEA), Italian Health High Institute (ISS) and Orbetello Lagoon Environmental Reclamation National Authority (now Tuscany Region Autority). His research holds mainly the following lines: 1- control of vegetation development and forecast and prevention of dystrophic risks in lagoon environment; 2- bio-geo-chemistry of the coastal sediment and the effect of the sediment resuspension; 3- biological tools for lagoon environment management; 4- assessment of seagrass meadow state and quantifying the human impact; 5- assessment of fish-farm wastewater impact and improvement solutions.
